SIYB
project handed over to VCCI as a National Programme by 1 May 2004:
After
more than 5 years of successful collaboration between Vietnam
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and International Labour
Organization (ILO) in implementing the SIYB project in Viet Nam, the
national SIYB programme was handed over to VCCI on the 1st of May
2004. VCCI now has the full institutional and technical capacity to
sustain the national SIYB programme and to continue to develop the
market for SIYB training in Viet Nam.
A
business plan has been developed for the future financial
sustainability of the national programme and Sida and the ILO will
continue to follow VCCI's implementation of SIYB for the next three
years. More importantly, the programme has now generated significant
interest from the Government of Viet Nam who now regards SIYB as a
key national tool for employment creation and poverty reduction. An
annual grant is thus being provided by the Government to the
national SIYB programme.
